Volunteer at our Child Vaccination Clinics

The child and infant immunisation team are looking for volunteers to support their flu vaccination clinics for children aged 0-5 in Midlothian. Volunteers will welcome children and families to the clinics and put them at ease by offering distractions e.g., games, stories, chat. Volunteers will also support staff to keep the area tidy.

Clinics will begin in September and tend to run until the end of November/early December. Clinics will take place in Penicuik, Danderhall, Loanhead, Newbattle and Gorebridge libraries, Woodburn Miners Club and Ikea and usually take place on Wednesday’s, Thursday’s or Friday’s during the day. Volunteers are asked to commit to a weekly morning or afternoon session. Online application can be found here.

Volunteer with the Learning Disability Team

The Learning Disability Team in Midlothian are looking for volunteers to support clients as Befrienders. This is an opportunity to support adults with a Learning Disability to engage with their community, and for volunteers to gain an understanding into the work of the Learning Disability Team. Volunteers will support clients to work towards a goal they have set, on a weekly basis (which can include evenings and weekends, for a minimum of 6 months). This might be to join a group, get more active, get used to public transport or to socialise in the community. Volunteers might also be asked to find out about activities that their client may enjoy.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, dedicated and confident to take on this new role and join the Learning Disability team to support those accessing their service. If this sounds like you, apply here .
