We have worked successfully in the South West Of Edinburgh for many years and have recently received funding to work City Wide. We are looking for positive role models to become volunteer befrienders. We provide full training for the befriending role as well as information on child protection and other information relative to working with young people. This could be a valuable learning experience that could help improve the skills required for those training in social sciences or in general and can be a rewarding experience for both volunteer and Young Person’
Support Session Volunteer – Role Description What does the role involve? Support Session Volunteers help our clients with general advocacy, supporting people with a variety of challenges. Service Team Volunteer – Role Description What does the role involve? The Service Team Volunteer role supports a local Team in the delivery of our services. This can include; · Administrative support · Helping clients understand the service and how to access it · Dropping off promotional materials · Attending events · Assisting staff with workshops, presentations and awareness raising · Accompanying staff on home visits · Promoting the organisation and our services · Submitting regular reports on activities completed · Promotion of the organisation and our services What is needed for this Role? Community Engagement Volunteer Our role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks: Providing input and advice and share your experiences; act as an ambassador and advocate for the charity supporting our work. Engaging with local organisations and represent the views and perspectives of people living with or caring for someone with a terminal illness, or who have been bereaved. Engaging with local communities to listen to and learn from their experiences of end-of-life care and bereavement support. About Marie Curie Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Last year alone we cared for over 40,000 people across the UK. We can’t do what we do without our supporters, only you can make sure we can continue caring for people living with a terminal illness across the UK. Family Wellbeing Volunteer (Edinburgh) – Children 1st Would you like to support children, young people, and their families in Edinburgh? At Children 1st our ambition is for every child in Scotland to be safe, loved and well with their family. As a charity we offer emotional, practical, and financial support to help families to put children first and campaign to uphold the rights of every child. This volunteering opportunity will be based within the Children 1st Edinburgh Family Wellbeing Service which supports children and families across the whole of Edinburgh. The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is at the heart of what we do. Our work includes support for families who face a number of different barriers and challenges including: ethnically diverse backgrounds; money worries; children with additional support needs; families linked to the armed forces; children and parents affected by poor mental health and families affected by domestic abuse. We take a strength based approach to improve safety and wellbeing. Volunteering with the Edinburgh Family Wellbeing Service will complement the support we provide to help reduce isolation and promote a sense of belonging by encouraging families to engage with their wider community. Family Wellbeing Volunteer (Midlothian) – Children 1st Would you like to help to support children, young people and families in Midlothian? Are you able to offer a few hours of your time each week? The Children 1st Midlothian Family Wellbeing Team aims to support families build stronger relationships with each other and get families connected back into their local community to improve physical, mental and emotional health through increasing confidence and resilience. We empower families to have increased networks of support and able to seek and accept support from others. Our aim is to help children and families recover and move on from trauma and/or adversity that they have faced. Volunteering with the Midlothian team will complement the support families receive from the wider team to help reduce isolation, build stability in their recovery and promote a sense of belonging with their wider community. Role purpose As a Youth Work Volunteer you will: Help facilitate our in-person group workshops with young people. Collaborate with and support a Youth & Family Coordinator. Provide support in schools across Edinburgh and East Lothian. Support and facilitate children and young people in group settings to build their confidence, allow their voice to be heard and make informed choices. Specific tasks Help coordinators facilitate groups with young people. Engage with children and young people and empower them to share their ideas and work together. Role purpose We’re looking for volunteers to support people with digital. You can either offer face-to-face help at our digital groups or over-the-phone support on our national helpline. You’ll be part of our service. The service provides digital groups that take place across communities in Edinburgh and East Lothian, providing advice to people who are looking to improve their digital skills. We also run a national helpline, which was set up to provide advice to people who have received a digital device as part of the Scottish Government’s Connecting Scotland programme. From offering basic support with turning on or using a device, to focused help in areas like how to keep in touch with friends and family online; how to save money online; or help with CV writing, job searches and applying for jobs online. There may also be opportunities to get involved in research. You don’t need to be an IT expert as training will be provided but you’ll be friendly, patient and keen to help people from various backgrounds get online in order to improve their overall wellbeing. We are recruiting enthusiastic volunteers for the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival 2023 (27th May – 4th June) Our Volunteers are the public face of the Festival; helping our school, family and delegate audiences at each venue, attending industry and guest events, and supporting the Festival team behind the scenes. In return for their time and commitment volunteers are able to see Festival performances, attend social events, and take part in the exciting program! About Imaginate Edinburgh Int Children's Festival To promote, develop and be an advocate for theatre and dance for children and young people, so more children access and enjoy more high quality theatre and dance more often. Experience Required A willingness to learn and a keen excitement for theatre and performance. Not a requirement but experience working with children is a positive! Training Details There will be an introductory induction before the festival which will introduce both the festival and the role! There will also be training on specific areas of the role during that session and on going training throughout.
