Fixed Term


Reporting to the Area Manager, the Accommodation Manager role oversees the management of the day-to-day operations of the Student Accommodation site operated on a fixed term by Destiny Student Ltd as a hotel.

The Accommodation Manager will manage on site teams, achieve the KPIs as per agreement with the area manager, provide excellent customer service in line with company standards, manage guest complaints in a timely manner and report directly to head office.


The Accommodation Manager will be involved with general management, leading the team of accommodation assistants and housekeepers to ensure the department is hitting targets on a weekly basis while staying within the set budgets and achieving set KPI’s. The role is a hands-on role with the Accommodation Manager managing and working across all aspects of the role.


The job holder will report to the area manager. The job holder is expected to always operate in a professional manner maintaining a high-quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with aims, values and ethos of Destiny Student Limited.


Student Accommodation

  • You will oversee setting up the building ready for customers arrival at the beginning of the summer, putting in kitchen equipment, duvets, pillows, information posters and other items. You will also assist in removing these items at the end of the season.
  • You will help to manage the housekeeping team (external or internal).
  • You will ensure our guests have a great stay and that all the elements of our product are present for this to happen.
  • You will assist reception in checking guests in and out.
  • Ensuring your building, rooms, entrance area and common areas are tidy and clean for our guests.
  • Monitoring cleaning team’s progress and standards of cleanliness, reporting future occupancy levels to ensure enough cleaners are onsite.


  • Ensure all revenue streams are monitored, maximized and the team trained and managed to do this.
  • Ensure payments and collections are accurate and timely.
  • Managing all costs associated with your building within given targets.


  • Maintenance items reported have been carried out.
  • Closely manage linen deliveries and stock by keeping accurate records.
  • Ensuring the housekeeping reports are accurate and the cleaning supervisor is directed appropriately.
  • Ensuring the keys are all accounted for.
  • You will respond to and solve complicated or escalated requests, phone calls, emails and reviews.

Management / Leadership

  • You will be responsible for ensuring all of your team are delivering this consistently and coaching and empowering them to do so successfully.
  • You will produce their rotas, be their line manager and their first point of call for any queries they have.
  • You are present at peak times and leading your team & any external companies.
  • You will keep your team motivated to provide great customer service to our guests at all times.
  • You will keep your team motivated to hit sales targets for tours and products for the benefit of our guests.

Health and Safety

  • Take ownership of key safety and health issues within the Student Accommodation building.
  • Be ambassadors for good safety and health standards in promoting a culture of openness and a culture of dignity and respect.
  • Carrying out daily safety walks/inspections and putting in place appropriate corrective actions when issues are identified.
  • Report all incident and accidents to the Area Manager.


  • The role is fixed term with all hours worked on site and only for a finite number of weeks so the Accommodation Manager will need to learn quickly through experience
  • The role will involve dealing with difficult guests and being able to remain composed throughout
  • The role is hands on and will require you to lead the team by example
  • As the role lives at the property, there will be occasions that you will be required outside your shifts. It is important the Accommodation Manager manages time outside working hours to get rest.


In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required from time to time to perform other duties as deemed reasonable and necessary by the employer. The job holder may also be required from time to time to work or attend training/meetings at another location. As much notice as is reasonably practicable will be given of any such change.
