Job Description

JOB TITLE:- SENIOR CARE WORKER
RESPONSIBLE TO:- CHARGE NURSE/TEAM LEADER

Requirements:- N/SVQ Care Level 3 or Equivalent (including Unit X.13 of SVQ Care Level 3;

undertaking of this Unit to be completed in-house within 6 months of taking up post)

SUMMARY OF ROLE:- To support Charge Nurse/Team Leader in the day to day care of the Clients. To provide/promote a high quality in all aspects of care relating to residents in accordance with care and nursing procedures and treatments.

CLIENT CARE

To assess the needs of clients and compile Individual Support/Care Plans.

To ensure that all staff are continuously aware of conditions of clients by completing written documentation, giving and receiving reports, and taking charge of shifts when required to do so. To ensure the correct observation and care of clients is carried out.

To ensure all the clients receive correct diets.

To carry out clinical activities including administration of medications, dressings, residents recordings To ensure access to and liase with outside agencies beneficial to the care of clients.

To promote involvement of relatives in the care of clients. Where appropriate participate in Activity Groups.

To promote equality and individuality.

To contribute to and promote a warm, friendly and homely environment.

To participate in and promote the quality structure of Meallmore Lodge Limited by adhering to the Quality Assurance Systems.

STAFF

To support Qualified Nurses by contributing effectively as a member of the staff team

To uphold the principles and philosophies of Meallmore Lodge Limited, by example in execution of duties.

To communicate effectively with other staff in all matters relating to the residents and the home. To participate in supervision of care assistants to ensure correct care of residents is carried out. To co-operate with all staff throughout the company.

To participate in training and development of junior staff to assist them acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high standards of care.

GENERAL

To ensure that all junior staff are aware of and observe all Health and Safety, Fire and Food Hygiene regulations.

To report any untoward incidents / accidents to Nurse-in-Charge/Senior Nurse-on-duty. To carry out administrative duties as delegated by Charge Nurse/Team Leader.

To liase with professional agencies in matters relating to the home or it’s residents.

To exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters relating to the home, it’s staff and it’s residents. To undertake and attain recognised in-house training to ensure continued competency required for the position.

Rate of pay: £10.04 – £10.51 per hour
