Job Description

The Faculty of Advocates is one of Scotland’s most ancient and prestigious organisations with a vibrant professional body of practising Advocates. The Facilities Department has a key role in supporting the organisation, working in a busy operational team to provide the Office Bearers and Members of Faculty with a high level of service. The vacancy below has arisen within the Facilities Department based in Edinburgh:

 

Fixed Term Contract Facilities Assistant (FTC -12 months)
Ref : 22.10
Hours: 35 hours per week (7 hours per day)

 Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am – 7pm

Salary Scale: Grade 5a £19,486 – £23,685 per annum

(New appointments will be made at the start of the salary scale)

The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate reception dealing with enquiries by telephone, email or in person, delivery of mail, relaying messages and booking consultation rooms on behalf of Members of Faculty.  The successful candidate will be responsible for opening and closing Faculty buildings on a daily basis, ensuring the presentation of buildings are in good order and any issues reported.

 

The successful applicant will assist with the running of seminars in the Faculty buildings and is also required to assist Members of Faculty to dress into professional court garments. Maintaining a high standard of service to all Members and ensuring confidentiality at all times is essential.

 

The successful applicant must possess a basic school education of four National 4 or 5’s (or equivalent) and will be looking to develop experience in a customer care role. A basic level of computer literacy is required using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, as well as excellent communication skills, attention to detail and integrity.

 

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a positive attitude and an enthusiasm to learn and support their team members. Excellent customer care skills are required as well as being courteous in interactions with staff members and Members of Faculty.
