Jaybirds Larder is a small and independent, growing family business based at Foxlake Adventures in Dunbar. We are a separate business to Foxlake but we work very closely with them and get perks in discounts and use of activities on site. We serve great food using local produce to both Foxlake’s and our own customers on site. We have a fun and friendly but fast paced working environment with a close knit and hard working team that is paramount to our business. We are a small and predominantly outdoor operation with an aim of opening and indoor site in the short term future, we are looking for staff who want to be a part of this venture.
Role purpose:
- Preparing & cooking food and running kitchen on shift. Making sure all food served is up to the best quality and demonstrating care for our craft.
- Maintaining standards of the food by following the menu, specs and procedures.
- Maintaining cleanliness standards in the kitchen following correct procedures, guidelines and HACCP systems. Ultimately responsible for ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines.
- Complete the necessary food safety certificates (provided by us) unless current certificates are in date.
- Guiding junior staff to keep them working correctly.
- Assisting with training and encouraging kitchen/cafe assistants.
- Assisting with stock and placing orders.
- Keeping waste to a minimum and following waste control house rules.
- Be able to work closely and well with the team.
Applicants must be:
- Enthusiastic about great food and service.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Open to speaking and dealing with customers as it is an open kitchen.
- Able to handle small amounts of paperwork.
- Good at working under pressure.
- Good communicators.
- Knowledgable on HACCP systems, health and hygiene and allergens.
Wage is a competitive rate including holiday pay. We are looking for 18 year olds and above. Age and experience will reflect on the hourly rate.
Contract length: 6 months
Salary: £10.00-£13.45 per hour
