JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Support Worker
Reports to: Support and Care Leader/Deputy Support and Care Leader
Hours of work: Full-time or part-time
Salary: £10.50 to £10.79 per hour (full-time salary £21,840 to £22,443 per year, part-time pro rata). Where applicable, sleepovers are paid at a rate of £85.77 per night.
Place of work: L’Arche Edinburgh is based in the Leith area
Main purpose of the role: As a support worker you will support people with learning disabilities living in a variety of settings, in line with agreed support and care plans, in all aspects of their everyday lives. You will deliver practical, physical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities, whilst proactively promoting choice, independence and self-determination.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- Provide high quality support to people with learning disabilities in line with L’Arche values, policies and procedures, the principles of person-centered care in supported living and the requirements of the Care Inspectorate;
- Facilitate individuals to meet their leisure, social, practical and spiritual needs and promote their ongoing development of independence;
- Assist with household maintenance, including shopping, cooking, cleaning and laundry;
- Work independently or as one of a team;
- Be responsible for clear communication with professionals, families of people whom L’Arche
support, advocates, neighbours, visitors and other members of L’Arche who are in contact with the
house;
- Attend training courses as applicable to this community role;

This role qualifies for a Skilled Worker Visa under the Health and Care Visa arrangements as it is a role in an eligible occupation code (6145) and providing adult social care services. L’Arche may be able to sponsor full-time applicants for up to 5 years and who can demonstrate that they meet the requirements for this post.
