Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen with Building Relations PR for students to apply for one of four summer internships working from its Edinburgh or London offices.
Offering 6-10 weeks of work experience – and the opportunity to get stuck into the world of PR in the property and built environment sector – applications are now open.
Summer interns will support our property, sustainability and built environment teams across a number of different accounts. With support from our expert team of PR professionals, they will gain hands-on experience from writing and selling in press releases to supporting with social media activity. BRPR interns will be able to gain insight into every part of the Public Relations realm and help support accounts on some of the biggest names in the industry.
A PR Intern will typically:
Read daily industry news.
Write press releases, news stories, articles, and product pieces.
Research news and feature stories.
Prepare media list for clients.
Help compile and circulate client reporting.
Pitch basic press releases and feature ideas by phone or email.
Respond to phone calls and emails from journalists.
Monitor media coverage and report results to the wider team and clients.
Help support the digital team with social media activity.
Take part in brainstorming sessions to bring fresh ideas for PR campaigns.
Successful candidates will have:
A passion for PR and a desire to pursue a career in communications.
English language fluency: You need to have excellent written and spoken English.
Copywriting skills: You need to be hot on spelling, grammar and proof-reading, as well as have a creative flair for producing engaging copy.
Strong interpersonal skills: Whether it’s over the phone, by email or in person, PR is all about people, so you need to be approachable, friendly and empathetic, and be able to relate to people on different levels with colleagues, with clients and with the media.
Excellent telephone manner: You may get the opportunity to pitch stories to the press, so you need to have the confidence to pick up the phone and maintain a positive, friendly and upbeat tone.
Timekeeping: PR is busy and there are always lots of jobs landing at the last minute – so you need to be adaptable and able to work quickly and efficiently, without compromising on quality.
Resilience: PR Agencies are fast paced and so there will be times that priorities and deadlines can change.
A good sense of humour: We always aim to do the best for our clients but it’s important to remember that it’s PR not ER. Our team is very supportive so bring a smile!

Pay: £11.50 p/h
Hours: Standard hours are generally Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
