Full-time Chef
Our intimate and vibrant Café is looking for a professional and knowledgeable chef to join our team. We are a small independent Persian Café famous for our friendly environment, close-knit team and fresh & delicious food. All of our dishes are cooked using authentic and home-style recipes, served in a bustling and joyful environment. We are a community hub for the Edinburgh Persian community, as well as many other diasporas. We pride ourselves on our ability to work hard, serve incredible cuisine and have fun.
We are expanding into a larger premises and need a competent member of the kitchen team to join us. The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Line Cook, Station Chef or Sous Chef and is looking to learn and challenge themselves to lead a kitchen in collaboration with the owner.
Duties will include:
– Involvement with all aspects of food preparation, including menu planning, cooking, and presentation of full-service Persian fusion menu breakfast/lunch and dinner
– Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards
– Manage inventory and control food costs
– Collaborate with restaurant management to create new dishes and specials
– Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
Applicants to this position should fulfil the following requirements:
Essential:
Good spoken and written English, generally excellent communication
Hygiene certificate and relevant hygiene training
High standards of personal and environmental cleanliness
Experience in a busy kitchen environment and/or SVQ Professional Cookery SCQF level 5 or 6
Initiative and confidence to get stuck in during busy times and ability to take direction
Comfortable working closely with others
Ability to be flexible and reliable (which we reciprocate)
Desired but not essential:
Experience working side by side with head chef beyond prep cook duties
Good knowledge of Persian food (don’t worry, we will teach you!)
This role will be full-time, 35-40hours per week
With opportunities to progress as the business grows through the summer period. Salary between £23,000 – £25,000 per year with yearly salary review.
