FanDuel Group is a world-class team of brands and products that deliver sports betting, gaming and entertainment to millions of US sports fans, every day. That’s no easy task, and wouldn’t be possible without a fantastic team who have helped us pioneer new products and innovative features that make us a leader in the industry.
Our paid FanDuel Summer Internship is a 12-week program starting in late June, designed for those who are interested in a career in data engineering. You’ll be at the heart of the action, working within an Agile or Lean development environment, with access to a number of learning opportunities.
The Position
Data is critical to every department at FanDuel, from product development to marketing to operations and finance. Because of this, it is vital that we deliver robust solutions that ensure reliable access to data with a focus on quality and availability.
Tech-wise we use different things across the full data lifecycle, but it is all based on AWS Cloud. Python is our main language, we use Java for our Flink processing library, and SQL for all our data transformations. Our data streaming platform is based on Kafka and Clickhouse, whilst our batch processing platform is based on Airflow and DBT. You can expect to develop your knowledge and exposure across a selection of these!
During your internship, you’ll work within a team, where you’ll gain first-hand experience of what it takes to handle large-scale data, and working to best practices in a cloud environment to help us build scalable systems. Throughout it all, you will have support from a dedicated mentor.
What We’re Looking For
At FanDuel we’re committed to creating a level playing field so whether you’re studying for an advanced degree from a top university, attending a bootcamp or learning to do it yourself on YouTube, all you need to do is show us you can write code in Python or Java – and familiarity with one of the main technologies mentioned above. Understanding of AWS principles, or any other cloud technology is considered as beneficial.
