Early Years Practitioners
Wee Mack’s Nursery, Leith
Salary £21164 for qualified practitioners,
£10:50 per hour for unqualified practitioners
Full and part time opportunities available.
Wee Mack’s Nursery are seeking Early Years Practitioners to join our team.
We provide care for babies and children aged 6 months to 5 years in our spacious nursery which opened August 2021 in Leith, Edinburgh. The nursery is within a former church building, with ample indoor and outdoor space for all age groups.
You must be passionate and enthusiastic about delivering a high standard of care to all users, and to help the centre in maintaining its aims and objectives.
Your duties as Early Years Practitioner will include:
- maintaining a safe, caring and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play
- running activities and working with colleagues and other professionals to make sure that the babies needs are met
- working closely with parents and/or carers, giving them a high standard of service, including regular progress reports
- making sure that equipment, such as furniture and toys, is in good condition
- an understanding of child protection within the nursery and the procedure for reporting concerns
- knowledge of appropriate nursery policies
- any other duty deemed reasonable by Management
You will need to have the following qualifications, training and experience:
- SVQ Level 3 (or working towards such)
- A sound working knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition and GIRFEC.
- A sound knowledge of child protection procedures.
- SSSC Registration
- Current PFA Certificate (desirable)
- Positive attitude, caring nature and ability to connect with babies and children
- Must be a good team player and committed to positive outcomes for our children and the nursery as a whole
- Membership of PVG scheme
Working patterns and benefits:
- Full time: 37 hours per week, between 8am and 6pm, 4 days per week with 1 full day off (occasional weekend or evening work for events, training or marketing purposes may be required)
- Part time hours (16/20 per week), fixed term and temporary contracts available
- 28 days annual leave plus Christmas shutdown
