Job Title: CNC Development Operator & Van Conversion Apprentice
Reporting To: Business Development Manager & Operations Director
Summary
Jerba Campervans is a growing and evolving business, committed to embracing new technology as part of our expansion plans. A key aspect of this growth strategy has been the digitisation of our design process, alongside significant investment in 2024 of a CNC router to enhance productivity. The CNC router has continued to drive efficiency across the business and unlock a wide range of capabilities that were previously out of reach. Fully utilising the potential of this new machine is essential to our future success.
The Role
We are looking for a capable individual who is comfortable working with computers and who can quickly build skills with both CNC and CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to take full advantage of our CNC machine’s capabilities. In addition to this primary responsibility, the role will also involve assisting with a wide range of van conversion tasks across the business, hence practical skills and abilities are also a key necessity.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Building upon a sound knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) to learn further from practical on the job experience, in house training and via external courses. To then use these skills to develop our digital design process and maximise the CNC usage in order to maximise its capabilities and drive efficiencies and high quality product across the business.
- To develop your own ability and skill sets for improving design and product innovation driven by the utilisation of the CNC and from your understanding of design based CAD software to fully explore and utilise the mechanical cutting capabilities of the machine.
- To assist in a wide range of van conversion tasks from working in the first phase of a conversion to the final finishing of a vehicle. Amongst other tasks this may include – assisting with fitting of full elevating pop top roof systems, fitting seats and flooring, applying internal trim linings, final preparation and complete vehicle sign off.
- To engage with all other employees in looking to continuously improve the productivity of the business, the workplace environment and the positive impact the business can have on the local community.
- To have a positive and can do approach in the workplace – as an employee owned company all employees expect everyone to be passionate, responsible, innovative and work as one team.
- To undertake other general workshop and conversion duties as and when required.
- To work with other colleagues to ensure that all relevant conversion work is undertaken strictly to the Conformity of Production schedules as laid out in the company’s Type Approval certification.
- To take personal responsibility for ensuring your own and your colleagues’ health & safety in all company matters.
- To maintain clean and tidy conditions on and around your own working area and to return all tools and workshop implements to their designated place after use.

Jerba Campervans is a 4 Day Week employer and our working week is Tuesday to Friday – we are closed on a Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Required Skills and Abilities
No previous work experience in actual CNC operation or campervan fitting is required, however, all applicants must be able to:
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Show that you are comfortable working with computers and have the ability to quickly build skills with both CNC and CAD.
- Show a proven interest in and enthusiasm for hands on tasks where precision and quality can be demonstrated.
- Have an innovative approach to problem solving and be a willing team player.
Salary
Starting salary range £10.00 to £11.50 per hour depending upon experience. Jerba Campervans is a Real Living Wage employer hence we work with all new apprentices in meeting objectives that would then see this rate increase to £12.60 per hour within the first year of employment.
The package also includes a 4 day working week (Tues-Fri), 30 days annual holiday allowance including statutory holidays and a variable annual bonus (up to £3600 tax free).
