Job title: Cafe Assistant
Reports to: General Manager
Hours of work: Zero Hour contract
Location: Saughton Park, 60B Ford’s Road, Edinburgh, EH11 3HR
Pay: £12.60 per hour (Four Square offers the same rate of pay to employees of all ages). Plus rolled up holiday pay of £1.52 per hour.

Four Square Scotland is an Edinburgh charity working for more than 40 years to prevent homelessness and promote inclusion. We provide services directly to people who are homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness to overcome any barriers they may face in creating a stable life for themselves in their community. About the role
Please note: this post is a zero hour contract.
Situated in Saughton Park, we are a community café, based in the heart of the community with a welcoming, cozy atmosphere and delicious, reasonably priced food.
This role will involve customer service, food and drink preparation, general café tasks, ordering, and additionally supporting our volunteers within the café. The successful applicants are proactive, can work flexibly and efficiently, as well as having a calm and compassionate nature.
KEY DUTIES
– Hot drinks preparation / barista style coffee prep
– Food preparation, including takeaway – making of sandwiches, paninis, rolls, baked potatoes etc
– Food service – hot food, cakes, snacks
– Stock rotation and manage supplies
– Opening and closing the café
– Cash handling
– Customer service
– Maintaining health and safety standards, including maintaining high standards of cleanliness and completing necessary records
– Assist with training new and existing staff and volunteers
– Delivering training activities one-to-one to our volunteers to achieve independence in multiple areas of café work and increasing their employability
– Communication with the whole team in order to ensure continuity
– Carry out any other duties within the general scope of the post, as directed by the Manager/Assistant Manager

- Kitchen or Barista experience and food knowledge is preferred

- SCHEDULE:
Day shifts only Monday to Sunday between 9am and 4:30pm – occasional evening work may be required for events. We make no guarantee of any work, or any minimum amount of work, being made available to you at any time
