User Centred Design Internship Job Description

Payment: £25,713 per annum

Accountable to: Senior User Researcher

Contract: 12 months (Full time)

Location: 220 High Street, Glasgow or 17 S Union St, Dundee DD1 4EZ.  The role will be a blend of working from home and working in the office each week. There will be flexibility on the balance of working in the office and working from home.

As User Centred Design Intern you will:

• Have a passion for user-centred design

• Work closely with each area, service design, content design, user research and performance analytics.

• Work with user researchers providing support at all stages of the research process, including setting up interviews with clients

• Provide support in the management of all documentation across user centred design

• Provide administrative support to each area of User Centred Design

• Help set up meetings to discuss projects or other user centred design activities

• Support managing user accounts on Internal Knowledge Management (the system we use to provide guidance on how to process applications)

• Daily monitoring of user centred design mailbox

• Support the administration of Jira tickets (the system we use for new work requests)

• Provide administrative support for training

• Advocate for accessibility, assisted digital and inclusive design practices to help teams deliver accessible services that work for all

 

Person Specification:

Essential skills and experience

1. Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organise and collate information from a variety of sources to support decision making

2. Ability to work effectively and flexibly as a member of a team.

3. Experience in using Microsoft Office programmes, Word, Outlook and Microsoft Teams in particular.

4. Ability to use good judgement in knowing when to act independently to make decisions / resolve problems, and when to seek further guidance / advice.

5. Good interpersonal skills including the ability to ensure effective communication with new customers.

6. Strong communication skills, and the ability to present information clearly and concisely and with an awareness of the needs of diverse audiences.

7. Have a clear need for the opportunity and be able to show how it will help you overcome barriers to achieving your career goals. (this is assessed in the sections motivation for applying, skills development, and current employment status.)

8. Must define as Deaf or disabled which includes physical, sensory and mental impairments, neurodivergence, learning disabilities, learning difficulties such as dyslexia or long-term health conditions. (You do not need to give details in the supporting statement unless you wish to. If you do, this will not be removed from the application before the shortlisting panel sees it.)

 

Desirable skills and experience:

9. Have an interest in User-Centred Design (UCD)

10. Experience of admin skills, including note taking
