Job Description

Harmeny Education Trust is a critical service providing therapeutic care and education for children with complex additional support needs. We work with children of primary up to early secondary stage, both on a day and all-year-round residential basis.

In the current challenging climate, it is more important than ever for us to have a bank of staff whom we can rely on to maintain the existing provision of care.

We are therefore seeking Residential Child Care Workers to join our Care Team on a casual/relief basis. The main focus of the role is to contribute to a culture and ethos in which the needs of the children are paramount, and to provide them with security, safety, care and social development to enable them to reach their potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified or part-qualified Residential Child Care Workers to join an established and successful organisation. Working alongside colleagues in Care, Education and Support Services, successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute positively to the lives of some of the nation’s most vulnerable children.

Harmeny is situated in a beautiful 35-acre woodland estate, which includes residential and education accommodation, community garden, orchard, wildlife habitats, children’s play areas and a mountain bike track. Harmeny is located in Balerno on the outskirts of Edinburgh, at the foot of the Pentland Hills and is easily accessible by bus and there is ample parking.

The successful candidates need to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), or will need to register within the first six months of engagement.

Hours: Variable. Evening and weekend work is required, and some night shifts are available.

Rate of pay:

Qualified  Point 28 (£15.90 per hour)

Part-qualified   Point 24 (£14.07 per hour)
