Role:  Part Time Assistant Café Manager /Cook – 6 month contract  

 

 

 

Kirkgate Café at Liberton Kirk, 28-30 Kirkgate, Edinburgh, EH16 6RY

Salary: £9.95 per hour  

 

Hours:  14 hours per week over 2 days.    

 

Extra hours may be required to cover functions eg. funeral teas. Also holiday cover for the manager when on leave 

 

  

 

Starting Date:  As soon as can be mutually arranged  

 

 

 

Liberton Kirk is an active congregation of the Church of Scotland situated in the South of Edinburgh.  As well as the church building, we have a large suite of Halls which play a key role in our outreach to the local community. The café is situated in the foyer leading to the suite of halls and plays a large part in our connections with the community.  

 

 

 

 The successful applicant will be a part in Liberton Kirk’s task of Christian Mission to the users of the church and Kirk Centre.  They will assist the Café Manager in running the café and making sure it is welcoming.

  • To provide a welcoming, safe environment for café customers. 
  • Provide café service, food preparation and customer service. 
  • Keep all areas of the café clean, ensuring it complies with all hygiene and safety regulations. 
  • Manage café volunteers. 
  • Cash handling and end of day ‘cashing up’. 
  • Opening and closing the premises when necessary. 
  • Carrying out basic safety checks. 
  • Attending weekly staff meeting and other meetings when possible and as required. 
  • The post holder ideally should be available to provide holiday cover for the Café Manager. (Negotiable) 

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

    The Christian faith of the Café Assistant Manager is an occupational requirement. 

    Appointment may be subject to a satisfactory Protection of Vulnerable Groups registration.
