Job Description

IT Support

 

The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM) is looking for an IT Graduate to support us with generic technical, IT & software development related tasks, contributing to, supporting and guiding the IT strategy, to grow and create a sustainable organisation for the future.  We’re looking for someone to join the team, embrace the diversity and able to confidently translate the tech talk to business objectives.

 

The role will offer exposure to tasks involved with both that of a business start-up, as well as elements of a more mature business based on the strategy of the organisation and expected growth, so it’s an exciting time to join the team.

 

We’re Haddington-based, but offer hybrid and flexible working with a positive team culture, underpinned by service to our stakeholders and a passion for purpose.  Additional employee benefits include 31 days leave (incl public holidays), favourable pension contributions and unlimited access to lifestyle medicine education.

 

Minimum criteria:

  • Generic graduate IT qualification
  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript

 

Key Tasks:

  • Maintenance and new Website work
  • Looking after hardware (laptops and printer, etc)
  • Software development (reporting tool and scripts for finding data and trends)
  • Managing Onedrive, office365 online and outlook online.
  • Managing 3rd party integrations (including SSO) with the website (Brightspace and course merchant)
  • Providing security advise and generally taking steps to make sure the company is at little risk as possible.
  • Running Zoom meetings and webinars (these tend to occur in the evening but time back is managed)
  • Managing the domains we own and renewal processes.
  • Providing an opinion on future direction on future plans for the website, systems and wider IT strategy.
  • Basic photo and video (editing advantage)
  • General technical knowledge

 

Technical Skills: (experience of the following would be an advantage):

  • WordPress and/or PHP
  • Python (or scripting language of your choice)
  • Using web-based APIs
  • Office365/azure
  • Configuring SMTP / IMAP on the client
  • Managing domain registrations and DNS records
  • AWS S3
  • Windows trouble shooting
  • Basic security concepts

The BSLM is an independent charity, set up to promote the role of lifestyle medicine in improving people’s health and wellbeing. We believe many chronic diseases can be prevented, managed and even reversed by properly applied lifestyle medicine principles.

The society was founded in 2016 by two GPs and a surgeon – Dr Rob Lawson, Laurence Stewart and Dr Michael Boyle.

We now have more than 1500 members drawn from a range of disciplines including primary and secondary care clinicians, allied and public health professionals, scientists, educators, researchers and patients.
