Job Description

Scotland’s first modern hospice, St Columba’s Hospice first opened its doors in 1977. Over the years it has grown and evolved into an exemplary provider of specialist palliative care for thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses in Edinburgh and the Lothians annually, while also providing support to their relatives and loved ones.

Do you love cooking? Would you like to use your skills to positively contribute to lives of terminally ill people and their families?
This a chef job like no other. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our friendly, hard-working Kitchen team. The Chef will play an important role, delivering a high standard hospitality service to individual patients, visitors and staff within the Hospice. You will be involved in preparing meals, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and the supervision of staff and volunteers.

Working pattern and shifts

Full time and part time working patterns to fit around your training are available. Our kitchen operates 7 days per week and we work on 5 days out of 7 basis. We have two shift patterns:
7:00 – 15:00 10:00 – 18:00

Benefits

Salary: Hospice Band 3 £23,336 per annum WTE (rising to £24,311 subject to satisfactory performance)

• Paid annual leave: 27 days per annum on commencement
29 days per annum after 5 years’ service
33 days per annum after 10 years’ servic
• 8 public per annum included within holiday balance
• A generous Pension.
